QED provides forensic linguistic services in the analysis of written language to the professional intelligence and investigation industry
It involves the description of language in a range of diverse communication contexts, from how language is used and understood in relation to the law and legal communication, to the analysis of linguistic style in order to distinguish one author from another, to speech profiling using forensic phonetics.
QED provides forensic linguistic services in the analysis of written language to the professional intelligence and investigation industry, addressing issues such as:
Authorship Comparison (also called Authorship Attribution) deals with identifying consistency and distinctiveness in linguistic style to resolve questions as to the authorship of anonymous or disputed documents.
Authorship Characterisation involves making inferences about an author, or the context in which a document was produced, on the basis of the language used in the document.
Analysis of the linguistic strategy adopted by an author in his or her written statement may indicate whether the author is lying or telling the truth. This analysis is restricted to textual narratives (for example, written witness statements).
